Making a Tutu!

I am so excited my oldest little girl is having a birthday this week. I can't believe how quickly they grow! She is such a sweetheart. I love her to bits!!

To celebrate we are having a party next weekend. It is all organised. Lots of decorations and Pinterest inspiration. Party post will follow with pictures. Can you guess our theme? (She's turning two).

One idea I did see on Pinterest was a gorgeous little girl wearing a special rainbow birthday tutu. I immediately had to have one for my princess. Buying was left a bit late for postage from the US and Australian prices of pretty tutus are ridiculous! So I googled how to make one. In the process I found a great blog... Check out the how to and her other stuff at
http://www.theribbonretreat.com/blog/how-to-make-a-tutu.html

So i'm making a rainbow tutu. Thank goodness they are not complicated and there is little sewing involved. Here is a sneak peek of my work so far. Me likes! :)

Living Life Now

Today, thanks to some of my lovely church lady friends I realised that in some ways I have not been living in the moment - the now.

Now that they mention it, I can totally see it (light bulb moment). So this week I'm going to make some changes. Turn it around. Operation NOW commences: now. How exciting!!

Is there something you have been delaying for...
the 'right' time,
or the new house,
or when we have a baby,
or when the kids gets older,
or when we have enough money?

Does it really matter? Is it stopping you from living life? I mean really living and making the most of every day. Turn it around and start living. It's exciting!

P.S. For me it was waiting for the new house

Green drink!

Have you ever made something with excitement, a dash of creativity and a healthy intent?

This morning I made up a green drink, inspired and partly copied from a green smoothie recipe I found on the net.

Ingredients:
2 x kiwi fruit
1 x stick of celery
1/2 cucumber
Handful of baby spinach
Juice of 1/2 lime
150ml light milk
1 scoop of vanilla ice cream

Seemed ok before hand and on first taste but u couldn't finish the whole thing. It makes one tall glass or two small.

Perhaps I'd leave out the celery and only 1/4 of the cucumber next time and it would taste a whole lot better!

So have you ever made something interesting? Tell me about it :)

Light bulb moment or a God Thing?

Have you ever had a great light bulb moment? You know when someone just turns on a light and you can see clearly and you know what to do!

Or is it more than a light bulb? Is it God using the Holy Spirit to prompt us and guide us along the right path. To give us a heads up on which way we should be going or on what we should be doing. I call them a 'God Thing'.

I think there are both types of moments. Tonight for me I believe it could be a God Thing. It makes me smile and gives me goosebumps just thinking about it.

Writing this post just now I've realised the impact a God Thing can have on you. Usually I just wait for them to come along - to me. Well I don't even wait for them, or expect them. They just happen. Now thinking it through, it seems silly to let them just come along - I should expect and hope for them. I should pray for them all the time. In the big and small areas of life.

Challenge: ask God to direct your path. Ask for a God Thing, a break through, a miracle. He will because he cares for you!

Psalms 37:3-5
3 Trust in the Lord, and do good;
so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.
4 Delight thyself also in the Lord;
and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
5 Commit thy way unto the Lord;
trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

A road trip!

We started a road trip last week. It started a bit less than perfect! Money not going into our accounts on time, short on fuel, hot, teething toddler, tired, and hard to hear news before we left. But we made it!

I'm not sure if family road trips usually start off a bit difficult. I hope not but then if they turn out wonderful I guess it doesn't really matter.

Sometimes our life is like that; a journey. It doesn't matter how prepared you are, how or what you've packed. Things still happen. Its life.

The point is to stay on track. Don't give up! Things will turn out and more often then not, it will be wonderful. Like Gods special promise; a rainbow after the storm.

I hope to be...

I hope to be this kind of woman. Some days it can be really hard. I know! So start the day again (mentally) and keep going on.

Hot!

How r u staying cool? It's a hot time of year but anything above 40 degrees Celsius is just too much! Especially for bubs, toddlers and little kids.

Our family favourites for things to do to keep the young ones entertained and cool:

Water play / a few mixing bowls of tap water add different food colours to each bowl and give them some measuring cups. Fun!

Extra baths / Luke warm to cold baths to lower their body temperature. Add a few bath toys; easy!

Water fight / water pistols, hose, sprinkler, water balloons. Every man for himself or in teams. Dads love this kinda of activity too.

Home made icy treats / fruit juice, fresh fruit blended, water with food colouring, milk or yoghurt. Make it up as you go along. You can't go wrong.

Midday movies / a kids flick. Something new or something they love! Make popcorn and enjoy. They might even fall asleep :)

Not too original but they work. Stay cool :)

Happy New Year!

You know what? This year I've decided not to come up with any new year resolutions. I will make and work towards some personal goals (I'll have to think sit down to pray and think about those). But I saw a picture on Pinterest (I love that site), that seems so simple yet so wise. It's based on this verse...

Jeremiah 17:9
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

So this year I plan to be lead by the direction and conviction of the Holy Spirit. Enough said really.
