Autumn 2013

Autumn is well and truly here now. I'm thankful for that - it was a HOT summer in Melbourne Australia.

We all know that Autumn prepares nature for Winter. The leaves of the trees change colour and fall to the ground. The temperature drops. Night time comes earlier. It is a season; a period of time where we transition from summer to winter.

We quite often use the analogy of seasons for different periods of time in our life. But we don't always talk much about the autumn seasons. The transition periods. Those periods we go through before we go to another level.

I believe i'm in one of these seasons at the moment. For me its a time where God is working and moving in my life. He is doing a good work and it may not show yet but God is cleaning and polishing me. He is making me shiny, and bright. He is making visible my natural beauty. Like a rare and precious stone.

On the inside I know I'm going places. I'm learning. I'm being challenged. I'm inspired and empowered. There is a strong sense that something new just around the corner.

And I just wanted to share that because I want you to be encouraged that Autumn is not only a great season with pretty colourful leaves and a cool change it can also be a great period in our lives preparing us for new things.

I've just been listening to my Israel Houghton playlist and have been reminded of and love the song 'We Win'.

In between singing it he encourages the live audience that if we flip to the back of the book, we win! We are victorious! God had has already won the battle. Amen.

We have not only won THE battle but every little battle along the way. Our daily battles are won also. Sometimes it doesn't seem that way but God is on our side. He walks with us. Who can defeat him? No one!! So if God is for us who can be against us.

So are we walking, talking and thinking victoriously? I hope so. If not change it because we are more than conquerers through Christ Jesus! Hallelujah!!

He cares for us!

"Prayer is our acknowledgment to the Lord that we cannot carry our burden of care, so we lay it on Him." Joyce Meyer

Lord with this in mind I come to you now and cast all of my cares on you. They are: ... (inset your cares here)

I love you with all my heart and so I trust you with all things. Please help me to leave those cares at your feet. I don't want to pick them up again.

I pray that you would intervene in those situations. Have your miraculous, mighty way in my life but especially in those areas. Thank you for the positive change you are going to bring. I look forward to it. You are amazing!! Words cannot express... I adore you. Xxx

Matthew 6:30-34
The Message (MSG)

30-33 If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.

34 Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.

Sleepy time

I'm just starting to understand that having children means a lack of sleep well past the little baby stage.

I absolutely love my children and I love being a mum! Recently though I have noticed that some of the patience and the usually long lasting calm response I have to them in their difficult moments has been lost. I think sleep deprivation is partly if not wholly to blame.

So I have been pondering how to remain calm and be loving and not to raise my voice while I'm extremely tired and their difficult period just doesn't seem to end... Two toddlers teething at the same time!

God pointed me towards a blog that I haven't read in a little while that is priceless. It is by Michelle Duggar, American mum to 19 children and she's a Christian! I have found encouragement and wisdom from her blog before and I own their book 'The Duggars: 20 and Counting'. She has lots of great tips!

See her blog post about bedtime at their house...

I especially like this bit... "If one of mine wakes up in the middle of the night and comes pitter-pattering down the hallway to climb into bed with daddy and me, I love it. I don’t mind that a bit. I just let them come and snuggle with dad and me, and we all wake up in the morning smooshed all over the bed."

...There seems to be such a gentleness and love about Michelle. Even in the middle of the night she sees the joy of having children. It reminds me that kids are only little once and not for long!

God I pray that you would help me to be reminded of the joy of having children through the long nights and any other tough times. Continue to help me be a good mum and an example of your true love. Amen.
