Advance Forward

Thinking back over 2014...

Our oldest girl started kinder.
We brought a new house and moved in!
We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary.
We went on an overseas cruise trip.
We became expectant again.
We grew together as a family.
We grew in God!
We witnessed miracles.
We saw salvation in our own home!!
We have been blessed to have loving, empowering, real and Godly friends.

It was a GREAT year! Thank you God.

I'm looking forward now to 2015 I see...
A completed renovation.
Two big girls at kinder.
A new little princess to be born.

Plus more, more, more. I am believing for a year of advance. Moving forward towards God, the ways of the Spirit and His blessings and favour over our lives. For His Kingdom. And for His glory. Amen!

1. Don't sit back. Be deliberate. Push into God. Don't get lazy.

Proverbs 19:15 Lazy people sleep soundly, but idleness leaves them hungry.

2. Don't get sidetracked!! Focus on Kingdom things. You can't run a race without focus.

Philippians 3:13-14 No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

3. Look forward!

Philippians 1:6 And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.

Stinky good or stinky bad?

Proverbs 15:14 A wise person is hungry for knowledge, while the fool feeds on trash.

What are you feeding on?

It is easy to feed on junk food...

Fast food such as television, secular magazines, gossip, foolish talk, untruths, etc. but it is all rubbish!

Junk food is readily available. It seems at times like a reasonable option. It appears interesting too. Sneaky rubbish!

However it is not the best option ever! Never ever!!

Gods Word, Godly teaching, wise advice, the counsel of the Holy Spirit these are always the best choices. Feed on these things.

In fact why not immerse yourself in such good healthy food. Just like a garden needs nutritious, organic soil to grow so does our spirit. Fertilise yourself with the good stuff!

Stink with the goodness of God :)

Evangelist Heart

I have such an evangelist heart. I just love love all people and I can't bear the thought of people not hearing or knowing about how good God is AND that He wants to have a personal relationship with them.

So although I realise it's not the best way to evangelise over social media. I feel it's better for people to hear than to not hear. So if you're not the outgoing, I wanna tell people about Jesus and don't care what people think of me type in real life (face to face), then maybe this approach is for you.

Feel free to copy and paste the following words into your Facebook status. But remember no matter what the outcome our job as Christians is to love and show Gods love to all. Also and this is equally important, if someone does make a decision to follow Christ or ask to attend church with you please please please follow up with them and help them to find and connect with a local church.

....................

Do you know God? Do you have a relationship with Him? Do you know, really 200% know, where you will be going for eternity?

Here's the thing. I'm friends with you on Facebook for a reason. I care about you. At some stage we have had a real life friendship. It may have been a while back now. But my feelings towards you are the same. I cherish you and because of that I need to share with you my faith. What kind of friend would I be if I didn't?

I believe in God the Father, His son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. It is only through Jesus Christ that we can we be saved from eternal sin and death. God sent Jesus to die for our sins so that we might live forever with Him in eternity. Heaven!

God is good and full of love. Love for you. God loves you! He has a hope and a future for you. He wants to pour out is His blessing on you. He wants to have a relationship with you. He wants to show and teach you amazing things. He wants to save you from eternal death and sin.

By choosing to believe in Christ and asking Him to forgive you of all your sins you can begin a relationship with God that will change your life forever. And you immediately without any good acts receive the gift of eternal life, in heaven!

If you're thinking I don't sin, let me ask you...
Have you ever lied?
Have you ever stolen anything?
Have you ever thought about someone with feelings of lust?
Have you ever been jealous of another?

I you answered yes to even one of those you are a sinner. The fact is we are all sinners. There is not anyone who can say they are perfect. We all have sinned.

Life with God doesn't mean there are no hard times. Everything doesn't become rosey. But it is so much better than doing life without him. A relationship with God gives you unconditional love, forgiveness, truth, vision, purpose and a hope!

I once was lost but now I'm found. I was blind but now I see. My prayer is the same for you.

Open a Bible and look up John 3:16

If you make a decision to believe in God and invite Him into your life, to be forgiven please speak to me. I'd love to celebrate with you and connect you with a local church.

The story behind our BIG news

My first inklings...

Believe it or not we were on our holiday. A cruise trip for our 10th wedding anniversary. The trip was for 12 nights in July. A special trip to be remembered.

I was exhausted the whole trip. In the beginning I thought 'I so need this holiday'. So being exhausted did not shed any light.

The first thing that slightly alerted me as a pregnancy symptom was the stink of chlorine on the pool deck and that was quickly followed by the horrible smell of bleach that our clean towels carried. This really ruined the thought of a nice warm shower.

So my sense of smell was heightened. But it wasn't really confirmed to me until about day 8 when I started feeling woozy. It was like I'd had too much alcohol. My head felt foggy and dizzy-ish and I felt queasy and unsettled. But I knew it wasn't due to drinking. It might have been easy to diagnose sea sickness but I've never had any form of motion sickness. I have a strong stomach!

As if I needed any other symptoms while trying to enjoy our beautiful, long awaited holiday; the amazing food on board started to not appeal. In fact it - well the thought of it made me physically ill.

The final straw of confirmation was crying at the dinner table in the luxurious formal dining room. Simply reading the menu brought out deep felt tears. It seemed pathetic but also such a big deal to pregnant me. Seriously who cries when reading a yummy, free, five star menu??!
When my dear Robbie looked at me, noticed my tears and asked if I was ok - in that moment I knew! No pregnancy test was needed.

Of course I confirmed it a couple of days after we arrived home with a store brought kit. But there was no surprise. We are pregnant.

I was robbed!

The truth about my unplanned sabbatical...

You see, realistically. I could have kept writing the last 3 months. There was certainly lots to write about. Why stop?

The truth is, and I've only just worked it out this past week, (I know I am slow!) that I allowed doubt to enter my mind.
Doubt it's a sneaky tactic of the enemy's. He uses it to subtly steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10). It slowly creeps in - just one little thought. Perhaps even a fleeting thought and then he builds on it.

And of course he chooses his timing. It's usually when we have other things occupying our thoughts. When our guard is not as tight as it should be.

Ephesians 6:11-12 says, Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.

So I let my guard down. I allowed a small thought to penetrate my thinking and in turn my spirit. And do you know what that small insignificant, untruthful thought was? You are not making a difference.

Well mr devil (you don't even deserve capitals)... I am making a difference. I am being a light. I am speaking the truth and you won't stop me! So negative, stinking thinking be gone in Jesus name. Amen!

I encourage you ladies to stay in the Word of God and keep your thoughts on things that are good, excellent and Kingdom minded. So that when the enemy tries to use doubt against you, you'll be ready!!

Live by the Spirit

I've been distracted from July through September. For those of you who know me personally... It may seem understandable. For those who don't know me as well this is some of what's been happening in my world.

1. My dear husband spent a week admitted in hospital after I arranged for him to have two wisdom teeth removed. It got a little dangerous at one point with swelling getting too close to his throat and eyes. Both we were informed as being life threatening. Infection and abscess' were the underlying problems!

2. 10 days after that little saga we were off on a special planned overseas holiday. It was our 10th wedding anniversary in July. Woohoo! Yay to us. It is something to be celebrated. I'll post more about this later. So we were away sailing on a 12 day cruise with two very excited little ladies.

3. When we got back some very BIG NEWS was confirmed to me. Wait for it.... We are pregnant with baby number 3! There is a tiny yucky side to this news. I have never had morning sickness before. This time around I endured it for 10 weeks. All night and all day! I've been a little dehydrated along with that and of course all this yucky sickness has made it not quite as fun as I remember. But we are excited and pleased to welcome a new, precious, made by God, destined for great things, little world changer into our home.

4. And lastly all of that combined with us only moving into our new home (in the hills) the first week of June has meant we have still been settling, unpacking and cleaning. Not my favourite things to do. But God has planted us right where he wants us and we are loving our new area of residence. It is so peaceful. Pretty horses in fields of wild flowers, cows mooing, clear skies, lots of birds, thousands of stars. I can't think of a better way of explaining it than 'Gods country'.

5. Regardless of all that! God has been working and speaking and doing a new thing in our lives. We (our family) are moving forward in Him and all he has called us to be.

God is so much more than what you or I know him to be and He is living inside of us! He is taking me through a journey of refining and moulding. I'm not perfect but God still chooses to live in me. I am His vessel. So I choose to put my self: my hopes, dreams, situations and personal preferences aside and live by the Spirit. Not my way but His!

I saw a quote this morning by Christine Caine, "God wants to do a deep work in us before he can do a great work through us."

So now that I'm back from my unplanned sabbatical. Watch out! I'm back with a renewed mind, Kingdom focus, and a greater God passion to encourage and empower you ladies to keep running that race that he has called you to. I want you to be the best vessel for God that you can be. Because it is through us that others see God and his glory.

And if you're also in a refining and moulding period (God is doing a deep work in you), allow it. Submit to it. Bend to His way. Because afterwards He will do a great work through you.

Kingdom Minded Kids - Part 2B

Continuing on in the series... to have Kingdom minded kids you must have Kingdom minded parents!

How do you be Kingdom minded?
A. Be transformed by the renewing of your mind. And...

B. Have a knowledge of the Word of God and actually use it!

You can't be Kingdom minded without knowing the Kings Word. I'll break it down... The King is God. The  Kings Word is the Bible. YOU MUST KNOW THE BIBLE. Devour it. Hunger and thirst for it. Want it. Read it. Love it!

Once you've read it do what it says. Be obedient and open to what it tells you. Align your life along side it. Let it be your guide, your moral compass, your comfort, your truth, your refuge, your strength, your help, your go to book, your standard... I think you get the picture. If you do this you won't go wrong!

Now it's one thing to know the Bible stories and the scripture but if you are not taking it on board and applying those very words and examples to your life what good is it?! It is a living breathing word. It has relevance. It is real. So use it daily. If you're not sure how to use it, ask God to show you.

Let the words become precious and real to you. May the words be your daily bread. Let them sustain you and teach you and give you strength and joy and peace and hope and promise and purpose and guidance and love.

Now take it to another level again!
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.

If the word of God is a sword then it is a weapon. But just like a physical sword that you would hold and use in a battle; we must hold and use our weapon - the word of God. It is there for our defence and protection. As Christians we are always in a battle we may not see it or even feel it. But we are and our weapon needs to be used. Is your weapon shiny and bright and clean? I hope not! I want mine dirty and used, showing some battle scars.

When the enemy or a situation comes against you declare the word of God over it. Tell the situation to get into Kingdom order. Don't be tossed around by the wind of life. Let the word of God hold you steady and planted.

Ephesians 6:10-17 A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Kingdom Minded Kids - Part 2A

To get Kingdom minded kids what do we actually do?

Firstly to have Kingdom minded kids, you need Kingdom minded parents! So this is for you mums...

A. Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

Romans 12:2 (NLT) says "Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect."

As the scripture says, you shouldn't think or copy the behaviour of the world. Actually as Christians we are meant to be different. In Matthew 5:13-16 Jesus calls us to be the salt and light of the world.

So that means you don't have to parent how the world does. Be the salt and light through your parenting.

Choose to think positive thoughts. Choose to be happy. Choose to walk out your faith.

Think different. Live different. Act different. Learn different. Speak different. Obey different. Work different. Give different. Worship different. Parent different.

I see it as a form of surrender. When you gave your life to Christ you surrendered it to him. It is not yours anymore. That includes your thinking. Your thinking should be His way of thinking. Surrender your thoughts to Him!

Colossians 3:1-2 Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honour at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.

Change your thinking, behaviour and customs. Be the salt and light you were called to be. Think as Christ would think. Be Kingdom minded. This brings me to my next point...

Stay tuned for Part 2B

Kingdom Minded Kids - Part 1

We are doing something new in our house. I mean new for us. Its not a new concept as far as I'm concerned. It's just not as common as it should be. What is it? ...

I'm using 'Kingdom minded thinking' to parent our girls. Sounds simple right?

Previously (like last month) we parented how we best saw fit. Of course our aim was to bring up good Godly children but there was no real strategy or grand plan. Lots of little plans and ideas yes. We had our ways of doing things. A Biblical view yes. A foundation of love yes. But not one clear vision so to speak.

What we were doing wasn't wrong. Afterall there's no handbook given to you when a baby comes out. Lots of parents make it up as they go along, read books on what to do, or just do the best they can. What we have been doing has produced good, well mannered, unselfish children (most of the time). They know the Bible and know what prayer and praise is. But is that enough?

Our new parenting gig is to be Kingdom minded. (I see this as different from just a Biblical view). Now every word of God, the ministry of the Holy Spirit and power of Jesus Christ is really key. I'm sure some of you are thinking duh! Bear with me because I've only just got this revelation.

I want more than good, well mannered, unselfish children. I want them to not just know the Bible but know how to apply it to their lives. I want children who know God personally, who have His abundant favour and blessing, who sense the Holy Spirit and walk through life (even now at 2 and 3 years old) with His anointing. I want them to encounter God and encourage and motivate others to do the same. I want them to have confidence and boldness and to know who they are. Not their view of who they are, not the worlds view of who they are, not even my view of who they are. But for them to really know who they are in Christ! I want them to know and use freely the gifts the Holy Spirit has given them. I want them to love all people and to be unafraid, unashamed, zealous evangelists. I want them to see healing and seemingly impossible miracles take place in the name of Jesus Christ right in front of their eyes!

Re-reading the above list of wants for my children, I'm thinking I would have said that I wanted this before. But now stepping into this new season - this new way of thinking- I know that it is possible right now! Not for them in the future as they get older. I don't need to lay a foundation of Bible stories and wait for a kid or youth leader down the track provide an environment for my girls to have a God encounter. They can do it all now.

The Bible doesn't say you have to be a certain age to encounter and love God. It also doesn't say you have to be a certain age to be used by God. Young Samuel and David in the Bible are good examples that God does speak to children and God does use children to do big things for Him!

1 Timothy 4:12 says "Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity."

As Mothers we should take this on board. Don't think less of them, your children because they are young. Train them up in the ways of The Lord now. Cultivate a spirit of thankfulness and worship in them. Encourage prayer and an expectant heart. Let them dream dreams and see visions. Let them have faith and know that faith as small as a mustard seed can move mountains. Don't think they can't. They can!

Reading the Bible to them, praying with them, and praising God together is no longer enough in our house. It's time to take it to another level!

So now our aim and parenting approach is to bring up Kingdom minded kids!

Stay tuned for the next part in this series. How to be a Kingdom minded parent!

A cherry on top!

It has been a while in between blog posts for me. Time has gone by but my God has remained faithful, constant, stable, miraculous, ever present and available!

It has been a whirlwind kind of month for our family. We have found, purchased and moved into a new home. We helped Nanna Boyle move into her new home. We have had some sickness try to hold us back. We lost and found our beloved pet Harry. And I, Mummy Boyle attended my most favourite women's conference.

It's really hard to know where to start... You know when you're in one of life's big seasons sometimes you just need to knuckle down (which may mean not doing all you normally do or all you want to do). That's been me for the last 4-6 weeks!

But I testify that even through all my knuckling down and the long days (and nights) God is still there and He met all my needs. Praise Him! I'm am so thankful for all He has done! I will give Him praise always.

And who knows that with God he doesn't just meet all our needs, but he exceeds our expectations and blesses us over and above what we ask or need. I certainly know it. God always puts a cherry on top and whipped cream on the side! (Yum)

What a generous God we serve :)

P.S. I'm back!

Sacrifice of a Soldier

Being a soldier is a sacrifice. I have seen this to be true...

They sacrifice

S elf. They no longer have the responsibility of themselves. Everything they do is by order and schedule.

A period of time. Whether they are at war or at home, the time of a soldier is almost completely given to others. They miss a part of life. Big celebrations; perhaps the birth of their own baby entering the world, a family funeral, a kids first day at school, Christmas, anniversaries, holidays and the everyday things...

C ommon things such as weekend sport, parties, taking their kids to school, the embrace of a loved one, a home cooked meal or a lazy day on the couch.

R elationahips suffer either while they're away or when they get back. Wives wishing 'He' was here or wondering why 'He' is so different.

I n case of an emergency. They sacrifice the innocence of being able to go to work and come home without worry or fear. Plans must be in place in case of severe injury or death. The risk is more probable than most jobs.

F amily. They miss parts of family life and as a result of the job their families also sacrifice.

I mage. A soldier has to look, dress, eat and behave in a certain manner.

C larity of mind. You may/do see, hear and do things as a soldier that you wish you hadn't. Horrible things that stick in your mind. Things that can give you depression, or post traumatic stress disorder and nightmares.

E motions. We are all human. Even soldiers. And all of the above does take a toll especially on a persons emotions. It's all connected to our emotions. To feel is to be human.

Dedicated to all soldiers but especially dear to my heart - Damian Richards - I love you! X

The Desires of Your Heart

Do you have a bunch of good, fun, Godly women around you?

I'm getting straight into it today... I have friends!! {insert big smile}

You see my childhood journey was different to most. I grew up in lots of places. There are 13 school years (of primary and secondary school) and I went to 13 different schools. That many schools is quite ridiculous! But it is part of me, my story and now I can't imagine it being different.

The thing I found most difficult during that period was having friends. If it wasn't difficult to make them, it was hard to keep them. Either or.

Now it's been a while since I left school (cough 11 years cough) and I'd like to point out towards the end of high school I did have some friends. But not like best friends. Not friends that were similar to me. Not the kind of friends you want to spend all your time with. Not the kind I felt I could really pour my heart and soul out to. Not the kind of friends that helped make you be a better you. I was still different, felt like I didn't fit in and more loner-ish than one would like.

One Bible verse in particular helped me with this after I gave my heart to God at 14 years old.

Psalm 37:4 Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires.

Over the years as I have delighted myself in the Lord he has been fulfilling the desires of my heart. One at a time, in His time. And who knows that His timing is perfect!

God bringing me new, good, fun, Godly friends has been like a dream come true. And the quality of ladies that I now call friends are far better than anything I could have mustered up myself. I don't know why I thought it would be anything but awesome with God doing it.

In Ecclesiastes 3:1 it says there is a time and season for everything. This is my adapted mummy version...

A time without friends and a time with. A time of being at home keeping children and the house and a time to gain more independence and venture out. A time to teach little ones and a time to let them fly. A time for discipline and a time for hugs and laughter. A time to bake and a time to be cooked for. A time to hear from God and a time to speak to Him. A time to give and a time to receive.

There is a season for all things. But as we delight ourselves in the Lord (no matter the season we are in) he will give us the desires of our heart.

P.S. I'm still different but thanks to God I now have friends

Testimony

God has really been stirring within me this year and I feel closer to Him than I have in a long time or ever. It's so exciting and refreshing. God has captured my heart all over again and i'm in love!!

He has been so good and so real to me. Actually last week God healed my 3 year olds fingers...

I was rushing to get the girls and I out of the house in time to drive to Kinder. In my hurry I accidentally jammed some little fingers in the bedroom door. Immediately she had a blue bruise on one finger and a cut with a small amount of blood on the other finger.

She wouldn't let me put ice or a cold washer on them to help ease the pain and swelling. But she did let me pray for her. After praying her bruise and the cut was completely gone and there was no evidence of blood at all. Praise God!

So my sweet little 3 year old now goes around showing people her fingers and sharing her own powerful testimony of the healing power of God.

Thank you God for your goodness.

"Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. " Psalm 23:6

Camping Trip!

absolutely love dressing up and eating fine food. I have expensive taste. Seeing a theatre show or visiting the opera is cool. I like being amongst a large sports crowd. And yes we live in the suburbs of a big beautiful city.

But on the other hand; I also love good ol'fashion fun! I love simple but delicious food. I enjoy things like pumpkin festivals. The feeling of fresh crisp air is like nothing else and the outdoors brings it's own entertainment.

I'm very much a country girl at heart... So I 've decided we need to take our little family on our first camping trip (since having children).

Dear hubby and I have been camping a few times over the years. We always have fun. We even went camping once spur of the moment after hubby broke his foot. He needed a sea change. Lol! We've camped cave man style (no toilets and no showers) at the beach and semi civilised (at tourist spots) in Big 4 parks. Now that our oldest is 3 and our youngest is 2 and since we have the gear... Yep it's time!

There are so many advantages to a camping trip. Family bonding, no interruption of technology, getting back to nature, kids love the outdoors and of course you can be still and know God.

Psalm 46:10 says “Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.”

Plus there is also the clean air, the excitement of exploring new places, fishing, swimming in a lake, campfires, singing, toasted marshmallows, watching the stars and warm snuggles with someone you love in a sleeping bag.

I am over the moon crazy excited! I've made lists and brought a few extra essentials such as little girl sleeping bags and camp chairs. So now I'm sharing my enthusiasm online - as you do.

I encourage you to get outdoors. Borrow a tent and sleeping bags even if it's just for one night. Yes it's going to be outside and there is dirt and grubs. But it's all part of the experience.

God made the heavens and the earth. Go and see that it is very good!

P.S. You could always go glamping (glamorous camping) :)

Kids operating in the Spirit

Wow! Have you seen this YouTube clip??

It only goes for 8 minutes but it will certainly lift your thinking on how and what we should be teaching our children.

I pray this link (above) works.

If it doesn't work try searching for the clip using the info on the screen shot I took using my iPhone.

Like the lady who taught the children I too am challenged and encouraged to step out and live what I'm teaching. What a fake I would be if I didn't practice what I preach.

When was the last time you prayed for someone and believed and expected them to be healed?

Children are pure and free of all the crap and baggage that we adults carry around. To have faith like a child is precious.

Are your children operating in the gifts of the Holy Spirit? Write to me and tell me about it. I would love to hear more.

God Inspired!

2 Corinthians 13:14 May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

This (above) is the very last verse in the second book of Corinthians. I've often read the last verses of Paul's letters in the New Testament and thought they were like a sign off. You know how we sign off a letter -- yours truly or sincerely or kind regards. I thought it was like that. A last minute gesture of kindness. A sort of small blessing.

But I was wrong! While reading just now God reminded me of...

2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

I especially love the first bit - 'all scripture is inspired by God'. To me it says that if God didn't want it to be there it wouldn't be. And because it's there it's important. It is there to correct us and teach us. God is using the scriptures - all of it - to prepare us and equip us to do every good work.

So what is this verse telling me? I'm so glad you asked :)

1. The Lord Jesus Christ is grace.
2. God is love.
3. The Holy Spirit wants to fellowship with us.
4. And all these things can be ours. Amen!

So simple yet so amazing and powerful. Read those points over again. Let their meaning sink in. These words are powerful. They are God inspired!

The enemy attacks

When praying and fasting the enemy will come and attack you. I have experienced it!

On Monday March 3rd both my husband and I started a fast. (Our church are all doing a 21 day fast. Previously I have only done a couple of one day fasts and a one week fast). I have to say that this one specifically, leading up to it I have really been excited and expectant. I know that through this fast God will bring breakthrough and miracles. To me it feels like the cusp of revival. God has been stirring already and changing my heart. I have dreamed dreams and seen visions before the fast even began.

However tonight overnight between the first and second day (it is now 3am) I woke from a very real spiritual dream. It was as though I could literally feel, touch, sense and see the spiritual realm. It was pictured in a house where my family was sleeping - it was the middle of the night. I stirred slightly in my sleep and as you do in real life I felt someone standing by me. It caused me to slightly wake. I thought it was my husband before I opened my eyes. But he was alseep beside me. Immediately I knew what it was. It was satan! I could not see his face - nor did I want to. Although the night was dark, he was darker. He was tall and slim and wearing a long black cloak with a hood and he moved swiftly (like a thief in the night). You could sense the pure evil emanating from him.

He moved swiftly like I said and did a complete circle around our bed. As he was circling I knew what he was doing. I felt it. It was very real. My chest was heavy and it was very hard to speak. I was trying to pray in tongues and in that moment because of such a heavy and pained chest I did not have enough breath for so many words. I changed it to one word, JESUS because I know that if you call on the name of The Lord you will be saved.

What was he trying to do before I called on my Saviour; he was circling us and trying to overwhelm and cover us with oppression. I felt it. It was represented in that I also had almost no voice. Satan was trying to oppress us and take our voice.

After I called on the name of Jesus he fled the room. He moved to left after exciting our bedroom and I felt he was going towards our daughters room. So I prayed again. My voice had returned. I was breathing more properly. I wanted to get to them, my girls to protect them from the enemy scum. But I didn't yet have my full breath and my chest was still heavy. I believe the oppression was still lifting. But I had no concerns. I knew that my prayers for their safety would be answered by Jesus.

Why am I sharing this?
1. I am sharing this because I want to remind you that we do not fight against flesh and blood.

Ephesians 6:12 For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.

2. Also to remind you that if we resist the devil he will flee.

James 4:7 So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Just as Jesus did when he was tempted by the devil in the desert for 40 days, He told the devil to flee in my dream.

Matthew 4:10-11 “Get out of here, Satan,” Jesus told him. “For the Scriptures say,‘You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’” Then the devil went away, and angels came and took care of Jesus.

When the enemy come to attack you remember he has already been defeated and we are victorious in Christ Jesus.

Also if he, the devil is coming against you - he must think you're dangerous. So you're on the right track. Good job!!

Satan you have no authority in my house, my family or my life! Get lost!!! In the name of Jesus you must flee. Amen.

Fully depend on God

2 Corinthians 1:8-11 We think you ought to know, dear brothers and sisters, about the trouble we went through in the province of Asia. We were crushed and overwhelmed beyond our ability to endure, and we thought we would never live through it. In fact, we expected to die. But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead. And he did rescue us from mortal danger, and he will rescue us again. We have placed our confidence in him, and he will continue to rescue us. And you are helping us by praying for us. Then many people will give thanks because God has graciously answered so many prayers for our safety.

In the same way that God protects and rescues Paul (and so many other people in the Bible), God will protect and rescue us as we put ourselves out there - to be used by Him.

Do not be afraid! Do what God has called you to do. We are to be His example on earth. To be His hands and feet to a lost generation. We will come against opposition and rejection and we may even have reason to fear for our own safety. But God is on our side. Amen.

Paul said "But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead. And he did rescue us from mortal danger, and he will rescue us again."

Stop relying on yourself and doing things in your strength. Fully depend on God. He can raise the dead! He will rescue you - again and again!

Getting back to God!

I was reading the book 1 Samuel last week and as I came to chapter 7 I received a revelation of sorts. I read it like I've never read it before.

Turn to 1 Samuel 7 now to read it, then keep on reading here.

The way I've seen it this time is more clear and I've understood parts differently then before. I love that God's Word never grows old!

Last year our church family learnt about prayer and fasting. And in fact everyone in our church was given a copy of Jentzen Franklin's book on fasting. I now know and believe that fasting is essential. Having that understanding and knowledge that fasting should be a part of every Christians walk; it has opened up my eyes and made my walk with God closer than before.

I would encourage you to get a copy of Jentzen's book and read it yourself. Now of course it is not gospel. It is based on the scriptures. So like anything we should check that it lines up with Gods Word and take it from there. The take some and leave some approach.

Back to The Word!
1 Samuel 6 tells us Israel had just recovered the Ark of The Lord after it had been stolen by the Philistines.

Then...
1 Samuel 7:2 The Ark remained in Kiriath-jearim for a long time—twenty years in all. During that time all Israel mourned because it seemed the Lord had abandoned them.

The Ark of The Lord is moved to another town and it stayed there a long time - 20 years. However the people mourned because even though God was with them, they felt abandoned

Now who knows that God never leaves us? In this account in 1 Samuel we know that they even had a physical, tangible presence of of God with them. The Ark of The Lord was with them. Not only was it with them but it had been there for 20 years. That for me is a long time!

Note it says "because it seemed the Lord had abandoned them" The Lord had not abandoned them! It just seemed that way. The only reason for that feeling was their own doing. They were living in the past! They were not living in the present -- the now. The Ark of The Lord was among them. God was with them. God did not abandon them.

1 Samuel 7:3 Then Samuel said to all the people of Israel, “If you are really serious about wanting to return to the Lord, get rid of your foreign gods and your images of Ashtoreth. Determine to obey only the Lord; then he will rescue you from the Philistines.”

Samuel knew that it was the peoples feelings of abandonment not God. He tells them what to do: If you are really serious about wanting to return to the Lord, get rid of your foreign gods and your images of Ashtoreth. Determine to obey only the Lord.

Point 1
Get rid of the foreign and false gods and their images. Set your mind on obeying only The Lord.

In the same way, we should get rid of the things (foreign gods) in our life that are holding us back and the things (images) that are distracting us from being with God.

What is holding back and distracting you? Money, busy-ness, television, social media, the love for another, family of origin patterns, fear, sin guilt, shame, apathy, bitterness, an attitude... Anything can be a foreign god or distraction if we let it. The enemy will try to get a foothold however he can. He doesn't care that it's one way or the other. He just wants to distract you and rob you of what God has for you.

Point 2
Then it says, to 'determine to obey only The Lord'. I find the word determine interesting here. If you google the word determine the dictionary definition is...

determine
dɪˈtəːmɪn/
verb
1.
cause (something) to occur in a particular way or to have a particular nature.
"it will be her mental attitude that determines her future"

So we have to cause it to happen. When I think of it that way I think that I need to put solutions and boundaries in place to make it happen. It's like me saying that 'we should catch up' but never actually getting my calendar out and organising the details with you means that it is just a passing comment. It won't happen. I need to cause it to happen.

In the same way we need to cause ourselves and our life styles in such a way that we will be obedient to God. Don't put yourself in a difficult position -- in front of an unnecessary temptation. Position yourself to be right standing with God.

Point 3
1 Samuel 7:5 Then Samuel told them, “Gather all of Israel to Mizpah, and I will pray to the Lord for you.”

Now that we are living in the New Testament we no longer require anyone to pray and intercede on our behalf as Samuel did for Israel (as their Judge). We can pray to God directly. So make it a priority to pray.

Ephesians 6:18 says to keep on praying at all times and in the Spirit.

So pray when you are alone and when you are with other believers. It says in v5 they gathered and then Samuel prayed. Get a prayer walk with a friend happening. Mum's pray while your kids are playing instead of drinking coffee or go to a church prayer meeting!

Quick side note:
What is prayer? Talking to God. Talk to Him about anything and everything at any time. Be open. Trust Him.

I remember when I was 8 years old my Sunday School teacher told me of you're not sure what to say to God use these three words as a guide -- sorry, please and thank you. Be sorry for your sins. Politely ask God for your requests. Thank Him for being God and give Him praise.

You can't have a relationship with someone you don't know. How do you get to know someone? Spend time talking with them. Wanna know God: Pray!

Point 4
1 Samuel 7:6(a) So they gathered at Mizpah and, in a great ceremony, drew water from a well and poured it out before the Lord.

The Israelites gathered in a great company and drew water from a well and poured it out before the Lord. So... They came together and gave something to God.

There are a two parts to this point:
A) gather together with Gods people - go to church, a connect group or a bible study.
B) give something to God - it is not all about you!! God is a giver yes. But we have to give to Him also.

What can we give God? Praise. The Word tells us that if we don't praise Him the rocks will cry out! Let everything that has breath praise The Lord. Offer up your praise. Give to God.

Again it said to gather. So praise Him when you're alone and praise Him with other believers.

Point 5
1 Samuel 7:6(b) They also wentd to gather without food all day and confessed that they had sinned against the Lord. It was at Mizpah that Samuel became Israel’s judge.

They fasted and prayed! They sacrificed something and confessed their sins to God. Fasting is a physical way of showing God that you want to be nearer to Him. It is an act of submission and worship. Fasting releases us from mindsets that are wrong. Because we are causing our Spirit self to be in control rather then our minds and bellies.

Now I know this is long revelation (post) but don't get distracted. The best bit is coming....

In verse 8 we see that the Israelites indeed had a mindset change. After all the above they realised they needed God. They even asked Samuel to keep on pleading to God for them to be saved from the Philistines.

1 Samuel 7:9-10 So Samuel took a young lamb and offered it to the Lord as a whole burnt offering. He pleaded with the Lord to help Israel, and the Lord answered him. Just as Samuel was sacrificing the burnt offering, the Philistines arrived to attack Israel. But the Lord spoke with a mighty voice of thunder from heaven that day, and the Philistines were thrown into such confusion that the Israelites defeated them.

God helped Israel! They received the blessing of God. He answered their prayers and rescued them from the hand of the enemy. The Israelites knew they had God with them. Then they were victorious. Praise The Lord!

My points in summary for getting back to God are:

1. Get rid of the foreign and false gods and their images.
2. Set your mind on obeying only The Lord.
3. Pray to The Lord
4. Gather with Gods people and give praise to God
5. Fast and pray!

I believe God showed me this so that I would know that as I draw near to Him and put Him first - He will draw near to me. The same is for you. Draw near to Him. You will not be disappointed.

Also because I long for and recently have dared to pray for revival. I believe he showed me that revival comes as a result of the church - all of us individually to come back to Him and His Word. Right here is what we need to do. We need to get back to God and Samuel shows us how.

If you have been a Christian for a while you may feel like you're not the same as when you first got saved. Like when you first received Gods salvation. For me back when I was 14, I was on fire and unstoppable. All I wanted was God and His ways. People often commented to me that I was different. I was a Jesus Freak and proud of it.

As I have applied these 5 points and really sought God, I have found Him. I am again feeling that same on fire new Christian feeling. I am going to be unstoppable for God. I am going to be a Jesus Freak! I want to share this message with all my Christian friends. And more importantly I want to tell the world about my friend Jesus Christ!

Do you dare to seek revival in your own life?

Jeremiah 29:13-14 If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. I will be found by you,” says the Lord.

God is good! Amen!

My prayer today...

Psalm 25:4-6

Show me the right path, O Lord; point out the road for me to follow.

Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you.

Remember, O Lord, your compassion and unfailing love, which you have shown from long ages past.

Praise Him!

Psalm 28:7 The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.

I will praise Him in the day and in the night. I will praise Him in the good times and the bad times. I will praise Him when I'm well and I will praise Him if I'm not well. I will praise Him always!

My spirit does not look to present circumstances. It is strong because The Lord gives me strength. I trust in The Lord no matter what may come. He is my ever constant help in time of need. My friend. My deliverer. My love. My hope.

If you put your trust in Him, how can you fail?! For you are victorious in Christ Jesus. The word of The Lord is my strength and I delight myself in Him.

Praise be to God in the highest. There is none like you in all heaven and earth. Mighty to save. Alpha and omega. I exalt thee. You are more than worthy of my praise. And I will praise you forevermore!!

Be Light!

Genesis 1:3-5 Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. Then he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light “day” and the darkness “night.”And evening passed and morning came, marking the first day.

From the very beginning God saw that the light was good. Light is good. God made the light and God saw that it was good!

When we choose to follow Him, He sets us apart. His light is within us because He lives in our hearts. We literally become like a light. There is goodness inside of us.

When we love each other as Christians. Others who don't yet know Him will see the light. They will see Him!

Let your light shine. Ask Him to use you. Look for opportunities and seize them. There are plenty of lost souls waiting to be found. Be a bright shining light for Jesus.

Remember that old song -- I sang it as a child in Sunday School -- "This little light of mine I'm gunna let it shine..." Don't just sing it. Be it!

Are you ready?

I've always been a talker! It is a hard thing to make me speechless. What can I say? I like talking. (No pun intended). Once my husband clocked me -- we were driving to Geelong and he recorded (without me knowing) how many kilometres I talked non stop, without interruption. Also my husband has joked with me that if ever we were captured he'd let me do all the talking because after a short time they'd release us just to get some peace and quiet. How rude right?! Lol! Actually I'm quite content being labeled a talker. (Side note: gossip is different and I will not enter into that!)

Recently God has really been stirring my heart and reigniting a fire. God is doing a good work in me. I am growing more and more passionate for Him. I long to spend time with Him. I am reading His Word and I am compelled to share it with others. I could talk about this all day long!

Why? Because faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God!

Mummy tip: If your children are too little too read themselves, read Gods word aloud to them! Or even buy an audio Bible (on cd or mp3) and play it in the car or at bedtime.

I encourage you also, once you have the Word inside of you, share it with others.

Make no mistake, the day when Jesus Christ returns is coming. The Bible tells us that no one knows the time or the day that He will return (Matt 24:36). For he will return like a thief in the night. Unexpectedly (2 Peter 3:10).

But if Jesus returned today - yes today!
Would you be ready?

Why is He coming? He is coming to take His believers to be with Him forever. Where? I believe I'm going to Heaven. He has prepared a place for everyone who believes (John 14:1-3 and 1 Thes 4:16-17). Do you want to go to heaven?

Hebrews 9:27-28 And just as each person is destined to die once and after that comes judgment, so also Christ died once for all time as a sacrifice to take away the sins of many people. He will come again, not to deal with our sins, but to bring salvation to all who are eagerly waiting for him.

Will you be ready? You will only be ready if you are what us Christians call 'saved'. How do you be saved?

Romans 10:9-13 If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. As the Scriptures tell us, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.” Jew and Gentile are the same in this respect. They have the same Lord, who gives generously to all who call on him. For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Read Luke 1:67-80, Acts 2:36-39
(You can read passages at biblegateway.com)

John 3:16 “For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

If you haven't done so ever before, ask him to come into your life and forgive you of all your sins. God loves you unconditionally. He wants to have a relationship with you. He wants to forgive your sins. He wants to rescue you. He wants to save you from eternal consequences. He wants to give you a hope and a future.

People who do not accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour are already judged (see scripture from John below). God is our King and our Judge.

All nations on earth have laws and rules in which we follow and abide, if we don't follow them there is punishment by law -- justice. God is the same in that He judges us if we do not believe in Him and follow His ways. His Kingdom is above any person, group, or nation and His Kingdom will reign forever!

John 3:18-21 “There is no judgment against anyone who believes in him. But anyone who does not believe in him has already been judged for not believing in God’s one and only Son. And the judgment is based on this fact: God’s light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil. All who do evil hate the light and refuse to go near it for fear their sins will be exposed. But those who do what is right come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants.”

So do not delay! Stop now. Be wise. This is your warning. You may not get another warning. None of us know the day that we each will pass away. Give your life to Christ. Believe in Him. Ask Him to forgive you. Be saved.

If you have accepted Christ into your heart -- do not be wavering or luke warm in your faith. Believe in God and His Word 110%. Be boiling hot for God!

You don't want to slip away. To have known and believed and then to lose it all would be much worse then to have not known and believed at all. Take a moment to get right with God. No matter what has happened, reconcile with Him. He is more important than anything else. Your relationship with Him needs to be right. Ask for forgiveness again. Ask Him to be first in your life again. Ask Him to help you to believe and grow in your faith. He will help you. I have no doubt about that.

I write this for a number of reasons. Firstly God calls everyone who believes to share the Good News with others. Secondly because I love my family (and friends and even people I don't know)...

I want what is best for you. I want you to know God. I don't want you to be judged. I don't want you to go to Hell. I want you to have a hope and a future. I want you to be victorious, free, healed, loved and forgiven. I want you to be blessed and receive all that God has for you. I can testify to His goodness and His many miracles. I walk with Him daily and He has done amazing things for me. I am alive and free today because of Him. He gave me new life and He is offering it to you also.

Take it. Take the gift of unconditional love and forgiveness. I urge you today.

Be of Sound Mind

Do not worry! Do you have anxious thoughts or are you easily worried? I'm not sure if it is normal for most. But I do know that it is not what God has called us to.

What does the Bible says about worry...

Proverbs 12:25 Worry weighs a person down; an encouraging word cheers a person up.

Matthew 6:25-33 “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith? “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

I know personally there are times when my thoughts can carry me away. One small pin prick of doubt or concern can very quickly become a cause of anxiety.

Say for example if my dear hubby is running 40 minutes late and doesn't call to let me know because his mobile phone has a flat battery... This could well tumbleweed out of control with one little tinkering seed of doubt from the enemy. Then the thoughtful questions; where is he? How come he didn't call? Maybe there's been an accident?

Or maybe for you it's more... Checking your bank account and you've only got $45 left till payday. With the questions; what am I going to do? How did this happen? How will we get by? How am I going to afford everything?

That's when you need to get a grip! Take back control by the Spirit. Pray. Flick the devil away like the dirty rotten fly he is. Then say to the mind -- mind get in line with the Spirit (aka the Spirit of God). Then you will experience His peace and a sound mind.

Philippians 4:6-7 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

Vision for 2014

It's taken me a while to think about what I'm going to do this year and what my goals or New Years resolutions are.

In the end I came up with three areas to work on:

1. Giving to God
2. Giving to my husband
3. Giving to myself

So I have a goal for each of the areas listed above. They are realistic, meaningful, positive and good.

I know it is not spot on at the beginning of the year now. But let's not be legalistic and miss an opportunity to make good choices and positive change in our lives this year.

I've thought and prayed about what are good decisions for me. That way I'm not choosing a goal that is unrealistic or out of my league.

If you didn't get a chance over New Year's Eve to think about 2014, I encourage you to do it now. It's not too late!

Have you heard the scripture 'without a vision, people perish' (Proverbs 29:18 KJV)? I don't believe that passage is specifically talking about making goals. But I do believe that it does make sense...

If we go about our year (or our life) without a vision we won't get anywhere specific. It will just be. There may be some accomplishments but without the vision and effort of working towards something our way will likely seem lost. There will be no sense of achievement or reason for doing what we do. Vision gives us a clear understanding of where we are going. It is like the difference of driving somewhere new; with or without a map. I'm blabbing a bit here... I hope you get what I'm trying to say.

So anyway, ask God to give you a vision of what your year will look like and then create a realistic goal that goes hand in hand. Trust Him to guide you and remember that He has your best interests at heart. God is already on the sidelines cheering you on. He wants you to succeed!
